Hook into a ‘Grander’
Hawaii is world-renowned as the premier spot to catch the largest and most sought after game fish – the Pacific Blue Marlin. While these fish typically average around 200 pounds, females have been known to exceed 2,000 pounds. The term ‘Grander‘ commonly refers to any fish weighing more than 1,000 pounds and, in Hawaii, usually means a Pacific Blue or Black Marlin. The current World Record Marlin was caught out of Oahu and weighed in at a whopping 1805 pounds!
While you are not likely to cross paths with a Grander, Hawaii boasts one of the most prolific fisheries in the world for Blue Marlin. Other gamefish include:
